That has to be one tired little buck. Glad he’s freed up so he can grow to be much larger than his dead friend.

I had similar thoughts. Perhaps he still had enough fight in him. Perhaps, coyotes/wolves are opportunistic and that one was probably an easier meal at that point. Of course the second buck would have eventually died or perhaps he would have shed an antler prior to that and gotten free, but more than likely the coyotes would have gotten him.
I guess it just wasn’t his turn to get eaten alive!

I doubt the coyotes wanted to risk injurie from a hoof when the other buck was a risk free meal.
