The Ravalli Republic printed an editorial from Pete Talbut stating how glad he was that Gary Marbut, president of the Montana Shooting Sports Association, did not get elected to the Montana State Legislature in November because Marbut thinks the answer to self protection is……..well, to be able to protect yourself at all times, not only when someone like Pete Talbut allows you that protection.

Below is Gary Marbut’s response to Pete Talbut. At the time of the email, Marbut states that his response has yet to go to print.

“My reply (yet to be printed):

In a recent letter, Pete Talbot launches into an anti-gun rant by misidentifying me wearing a gun while digging potatoes. I was actually wearing a cordless phone. If Pete actually knew anything about firearms, he would not have misidentified a phone as a gun. Not only doesn’t he know the difference between a gun and a phone, but it seems that doesn’t know what he doesn’t know.

And that’s his problem the Talbots who are clueless about firearms think nothing of lecturing the rest of us about firearms.

Most of us who believe in the value of firearms are not clever enough to be able to predict and make an appointment with disaster, to be able to schedule the next rape or home invasion at a time when we can be prepared. However, since Talbot seems to be more clever than the rest of us, he could save money by canceling the fire insurance on his home, and just reinstate his insurance policy eight years later and just before the fire breaks out that he’s foreseen in his crystal ball. Think how much more comfortable he’ll be not needing to wear his seat belt when traveling, because he will only need to latch it up minutes before his predicted wreck. Ha!

Fortunately, most will quickly understand how totally clueless Talbot and his ilk actually are. As the Arab saying goes, “Dogs may bark, but the caravan passes on.” Get back to us when you have actual knowledge, not just fantasy based on ignorance.
