Since I brought this to your attention a while back, I thought I’d offer a follow up. In the last couple of months there has been general outcry about the preposterously slow rate at which the parks commission was addressing the problem. There really hasn’t been any type of anti-hunting pressure at all, it mostly been reasonable people who don’t want to see a massive starve-off. An adjacent landowner hosted a limited antlerless only during the Unit 19 late season and had reasonable but not spectacular results.
After all the publicity the parks commission moved up their timeline to this April. Hopefully by next fall there will be a plan in place to allow controlled bowhunting.
Finally, head to this link and vote. It’s down near the bottom on the right.
