Last year a couple of guys got my email address off a comment I made over at The Outdoor Smorgasbord offering to help if dihardhunter had any questions before he came to Kansas to deer hunt. I admit I was somewhat surprised that my comment even showed up, much less the #3 hit on Google for Kansas Unit 11!

But I had a great time working with a group of guys from Florida and another group from Wisconsin. I offered my thoughts where I had hunted in the past and where I might try now, mostly on public ground. It was also fun to hear from these guys when they returned with pictures and stories to share.

How far from St. Paul/Erie area are you in Kansas? We ought to meet up for a steak while I’m out in November if it’s not too far a drive. I know Unit 11 is a big old sucker.

I am trying to figure out how to approach public lands hunting in Kansas. My tag is valid in unit 11,12,19. From everything thati have read on the Internet, it sounds like it is very crowded I. These areas. I will be bowhunting qnd this will be my first year going to Kansas. I hunt here in west Texas, but I am extremely excited about the opportunity to see a 250lb whitetail! Any help would be very much appreciated.

I was wondering if you had any info. on hunting around Oswego. Myself and two friends from southwest Pa and Western Md drew tags for unit 11,12 and 19. We do have permission to hunt 3 Amish farms but we were wondering about any public ground close to Oswego that might be good for us to check out. The farms we have permission on are not very big.
