Last Monday we had the “Dove Opener”. This hunt used to mark the start of all the fall seasons but in recent years I’ve had opportunities to shoot other places before this traditionally Labor Day hunt. Still, it’s a social outing and usually a very good hunt. The Old Man has been planting sunflowers on this place for many years and invites 15-20 of his friends and hunting partners for the shoot and BBQ.

We had a good shoot again this year.
Then Friday The Old Man and I tried the other plot which had been sitting for a week. It was a good, low pressure shoot.

Then this afternoon I couldn’t find anyone to go with me! I knew there would be doves but apparently people would rather sit on their couch and watch football… or something… The Old Man was flying to Alaska, The Wife had work to do, at least 5 other guys passed for various reasons. So the dogs and I had a nice relaxing shoot… Saw a nice group of turkeys hitting the sunflowers too!
