Greg,
My husband hunts and he is always talking about how the moon phases affect deer and their movement. He believes this to be true even though there has been numerous studies saying it doesn’t. What do you believe to be true with all your time spent in the woods?

1.) What is the best way for a young writer to break into the hunting magazines?

2.) When the rut is on where would you set up? (ex. Field edge, funnel, where the does are, etc.)

In your opinion, in a relatively unpressured – to very low pressured – area, what is the likelihood a mature whitetail buck will revisit the same travel route between bed and feed if he “blows” after winding a hunter in the early season?

Early season this year I took stand between bed and feed – closer to bed – to intercept a doe in a highly traveled area. My intent was to take a doe because of the new restriction in the area called “earn-a-buck”. Just at first light – just enough to see – this 140 class buck walked in from down wind, stopped at 20 yards, turned broadside for about 3 minutes, then snorted and stomped back the direction he came from. I had to let the buck walk, but have since collected my doe from another area and have not been back there since – it will be one week Friday. Should I take stand in the same place? Should I move but stay in that area? Do I have any chance at this buck at all?
