Be sure to check out the HER OUTDOORS archives for September

for my interview articles with Tiffany Lakosky !

With record breaking attendance, an incredible line up of your favorite outdoor celebrities, and over one hundred exhibitor booths from the most popular products the hunting industry has to offer, the Deerassic Classic had every base covered this year for every outdoor enthusiast.

Nashville’s Irlene Mandrell, the youngest sister of the famous country trio The Mandrell Sisters, covered the event as the official spokesperson. Not only is Irlene one of the most universally talented ladies in the industry, her accomplishments in the outdoors can be compared to some of most successful outdoorsmen of today. Irlene has hunted all over the world, completed the wild turkey hunting Grand Slam, and has become a fierce competitor in almost every outdoor event promoting marksmanship and archery skills. Many may not know that Irlene has such talent as an outdoor woman with her entertainment background shining so bright, but within the shadows of her varied talents in the entertainment industry, this outdoor woman has the hunting background and know-how to successfully represent the ladies, and have the respect of the men in the outdoor industry of today.

Also attending this years’ Deerassic all star line up was Realtree Roadtrips star and new NWTF spokesman, Michael Waddell. Representing his new television show The Bone Collector, to air on the Outdoor Channel in January 2009, Michael took the time to talk with his fans, share hunting stories and answer any and all questions one may have had.

Lee and Tiffany Lakosky of Gettin’ Close, Larry Weishuhn from Thompson Centers Game Trails, and Keith ‘Doc’ Ainsley also attended the Classic, all having booths on the grounds to meet with fans, talk about their shows and take a few pictures.

Not only did the fans have the chance to meet and take photographs with some of the most talented television personalities in the hunting industry today, they had the chance to visit over one hundred exhibitor tables and view their favorite outdoor and hunting products. They also had the opportunity to be part of one the largest raffles any other outdoor trade show had ever seen. The Deerassic did not leave one single moment to the peace and quiet of the Cambridge countryside, constantly announcing raffle winners to the thousands of people walking the grounds. Included were numerous side raffles, and in the main raffle alone, were prizes ranging from guns to bows, Harleys to vacations and last but not least…eight new vehicles and 50,000.00 in cash!

While waiting on their number to be drawn, fans camped, walked, sat and cheered for some of the most talented up and coming country music talent Ohio has drawn into the Buckeye State, along side our famous Ohio State Fair. Performing on the mainstage throughout the entire weekend was talented comedic/country singing act Badbob & Jimmy (www.BadBobandJimmy.com), the band Southpaw, and all girl country group Cowboy Crush (www.cowboycrush.com). The talent was strong with these top acts, but the Deerassic had a few other events up their sleeves for the mainstage.

Tracy Lawrence hit the stage Friday night with two hours of hits while finishing up with a Deerassic moment no one on the grounds will ever forget. Joining the stage with Tracy, and singing along to Jimmy Buffetts Margaritaville, Michael Waddell sang with fans and by the end had them cheering for more. And if you thought this was one of the best moments the Deerassic had to offer, three time returning country group Ruff Creek (www.ruffcreek.com) performed songs into the night to one of the best firework displays many of the fans had ever seen, even at their fourth of July celebrations.

Not one thing was forgotten by the organizers of the 2008 Deerassic Classic. The Classic even provided the opportunity to camp throughout the event for those who wanted to experience it for the full two days. The campgrounds included the popular Redneck Olympics with games of cornhole, ladder golf and hillbilly horseshoes to pass the time.

From the outdoor celebrity talent to the country music stars of today and tomorrow, the Deerassic Classic had all the bases covered this year. The up and coming talent of music by Badbob & Jimmy, Cowboy Crush and Southpaw are favored to return. With the success of this years Deerassic Classic your favorite exhibitors and television stars will no doubt return to the small country town of Cambridge with its enormous outdoor expo.

Dont forget to return to www.deerassic.com for the winner’s list to all the raffle drawings!

Hope to see you return, or pack your bags for the first time at next years DEERASSIC CLASSIC!
