But it’s not running that fast, at least not according to the reports I’ve gathered so far. 

Heat and lack of water are common complaints, but it seems like a lot of people are seeing game, even if they’re not able to close the deal with the stick and string.

I did a quick check-in with the gang over at Jesse’s Hunting and Outdoors (JHO)  to gauge opening weekend success.  As usual, the guys didn’t let me down.  From the reports I’ve got to date, at least three bucks were taken over the weekend by JHO hunters.  There were probably close to 30 hunters reporting on various forums, so that’s actually not a bad average compared to the general harvest numbers for the whole zone.

A lot of guys are still in the field this week, so I’ll try to keep up an occasional update as the seasons progress.  General season for this zone (A zone) opens on August 11, and the majority of the rest of the zones will begin archery hunting the following weeks.
