Here’s another edition of the Porcine Press… expanding your horizons with news from the wide, wide world of hogs!

The Statesman, an Indian newspaper online reports that wild boar are raiding villages and actually attacking the residents.  As many as 20 people have been injured in the raids, which are being carried out by wild boar that are “almost the size of elephant calves!”  A professional hunter is being sought to put an end to this depredation.

He may need to get a bigger gun.

Not to be outdone, Typically Spanish.com reports on a wild boar hopping in the pool for a dip, and of course, terrorizing the tourists.  After initially trying to get the pig out of the water, the Guardia Civil finally shot and killed the animal.  I wonder if they cooked it up at the resort’s barbecue area?  Never saw anything like this on Baywatch.

Apparently, hunters releasing feral hogs in order to provide hunting opportunities isn’t just a problem in the U.S.  ABC Online, an Australian news source discusses the problem there.   The interesting (and positive) twist is that this activity is being denounced by hunting organizations.

Stay tuned, as the Porcine Press keeps you up to date with the wild world of wild pigs.
