Actually, the hunting culture in Spain and Australia is alive and well..although, especially in Australia, firearm restrictions have added some challenges.

In India, as I understand from some of my Indian friends, hunting has been for years a rich man's sport... the realm of the wealthy and privileged. Game populations in much of the country were decimated both by poaching and by uncontrolled hunting during the Colonial years. However, conservation efforts in the past decade or two have resulted in the return of many native species... although there are still far more Axis deer in Texas than there are in all of their native country (India).

Don't India, Spain and Australia have real tight gun ownership laws? They're probably getting "overpopulated" by more game than just Hogs!

I don't know about elephant calves, but I've seen photos of some real monsters out of Iran and the Caucasus Mtns. They definitely get huge.

Can wild boar really get to the "size of elephant calves"? That seems rather large.
