Often, the Porcine Press takes a look at some of the more unusual or off-beat news, but this short edition is gonna have a more scientific bent… or maybe I’m the one who’s bent… but anyway.
So to start it off, the BBC offers up this re-release of some genetic research that traces wild hogs back to their roots. It’s pretty cool when you look at this and realize what it says about how hogs managed to get spread around the world, literally.

The BBC report is enhanced a bit in this article from Science Daily. This piece digs a little deeper with some emphasis on why the European hogs provide the base DNA, even though they probably descended from middle-eastern stock.
This stuff is cool, because it really makes you think about history from a whole different perspective. Of course, my favorite courses in college (outside of my major, of course) were biology and anthropology.

That’s interesting. I’m always fascinated by how things start and how they spread. Guess I’m just a history geek at heart.
