This originally came to me from my friend, Brad, over at Southern Adventures blog, but when the story was first released the online news source was subscription only… not caring to part with my money for a newspaper I don’t read, I had to wait until the article was release for free.
And here it is… another Hogzilla.
These big, feral barnyard hogs are taking the southeast by storm, apparently. I’m hearing from my brother in North Carolina that a bunch of local deer hunters are killing them now too. The NC hogs can usually be attributed to the spate of hurricanes that swept the state over the last several years, knocking down or flooding pig pens and releasing domestic animals into the wild. Hogs go feral fast, and it only takes a couple of generations to start populating the countryside.
While they don’t have the aesthetic appeal of the “real” wild hogs, that’s an awful lot of bacon! I believe I’d drop the hammer on one.
