Well, that’s over!

Hope everyone had a really great holiday, whether you celebrated in the field or in the homes of friends and loved ones! And if you had to work through the season, I feel for ya!

Personally, I had a great time back in North Carolina, and while there’s no fresh meat in my freezer or horns for the wall, I spent several good days in the tree stand hoping for a shot at a fat whitetail. The hogs still haven’t really made a good appearance in my brother’s neck of the woods, but rumors abound and I have no doubt we’ll be seeing them soon.

Back here in CA, it’s time to turn back to the grindstone in earnest. Holidays are expensive, and this is the best time to get back into the habit of productivity and hard work.

For those who are having a hard time easing back into the “real world”, here’s a little video from Down Under to brighten the day a bit. Yeah, this guy is a little nuts.

Hate you didn’t find a hog while visiting NC. They are rather scarce in areas, and other areas are over-run. I guess overall, it’s a good thing your brother doesn’t have the headaches.(yet)

Brad, not having hogs at my brother’s place is definitely a mixed blessing. We’ve got a ton of deer there (except when I come out to hunt), so I don’t worry too much about competition for resources… but they’re gonna play heck on his food plots and habitat work. The farmers aren’t gonna like it either when these ravenous things start working over the fields either.

NorCal… the craziest thing about that video, in my mind, was getting into that water with the crocs around. I’m not real scared of alligators, as I’ve been around them most of my life. Gators generally don’t want anything to do with people unless we feed them, but crocs will hunt and eat you!
