Danny, the owner of Cypress Creek, and one of the other guides just got back from a do it yourself elk hunt in CO... unfortunately the weather went from very hot (no movement) to very cold and windy (no movement).
They did see one 6x6 with some cows, but that was on the day before the season opened while they were scouting! However they said they had a great time anyway. And that is what it is all about.

Be afraid, Josh...

I can guarantee that the first time you're standing there in the Rocky Mountain sunrise, and that herd bull sounds off a hundred yards away or less... you'll never think of anything else.

I love hog hunting, I truly do. But I'd dump a month of hog hunting and six weeks of blacktail hunts to spend three days in pursuit of rutting elk.

I've never hunted elk, and frankly, I'm afraid to try it. Afraid (actually, completely sure) I'd like it and turn into one of those crazies.

You didn't get to elk hunt this year? *GASP*! You poor, poor man! When do you start counseling? You have my utmost sympathy - you should be receiving my "get well soon" card in the mail any day.

I hate how fast the season's pass by. I can totally understand having to rant about that a little.
