Some of you are probably starting to wonder when or if I’ll ever write about hog hunting again.  Sorry to disappoint, but it won’t be this post either.  Fact is, with the other big game seasons underway right now, as well as waterfowl…. and not to mention the holidays, hog hunting just hasn’t been at the top of my list lately.  That’ll change soon, I promise, but in the meantime, here’s an idea of the convoluted paths I follow to bring you the latest and greatest.

This one all started when Holly, from NorCal Cazadora, sent me a link to an article in Newsweek magazine.  OK, actually it started a few days ago when I was pondering some ideas for a couple of Christmas gift idea posts, and was thinking of doing something humorous with some of the more ridiculous hunting gadgets.  See how convoluted this gets?

So anyway, Holly sent me the link and it turns out someone at Newsweek did a pretty humorous piece on my topic.   It’s not fall-down-on-the-floor-laughing funny, but it does show some humor aimed at the surfeit of hunting gadgets on the market.  It’s worth a read if you’ve got nothing better to do, which is not the case for me, but I was avoiding work right that minute, so I read it… and then I read the comments.

The comments were about what I’d expect from Newsweek readers toward a hunting-related article, but one of them in particular led me off to search for a song called, “The Second Week of Deer Camp.”  A quick search turned up exactly what I was after… the group called, “The Yupurs” has a video of the song on YouTube.  And herein was the prize… the reward for my efforts… and I now present it to you.

Enjoy!
