Well, it’s 2009! A new year, for what it’s worth, and we’re off and running.
OK, actually, I’m not running anywhere this morning. It was a nice, quiet evening with a bottle of champagne and a fine dinner. After all the festivities of the last couple of weeks, heading out to a big party just wasn’t in the cards. Instead, it was nice just to spend the evening with someone I love, taking it easy and letting the world go on outside.
I did make a resolution, for the first time in several years. I’m going to be taking a more active role in managing my weight. No, it’s not a problem yet, but I’m a bit above my “fighting weight”, so I’m gonna get that back down.
They say what you’re doing at midnight on New Year’s Eve is indicative of your whole year. So tell me (if you can), what were you all doing at midnight last night?

I was fast asleep (as is befitting for a man of my age and convictions) My beautiful wife Sylvia gently awoke me with a kiss and said Happy New Year!
A few short years back would have found me urinating off the roof of some house or building somewhere and screaming out HAPPY NEW YEAR! at the top of my lungs while shooting off fireworks from my bare hands.
My how things change as we get older.
