Yupp, lots of stuff coming up this year. And Arthur, I can totally relate to the years going by too fast to keep up with.

Josh, I guess I'm not the committed soldier in the fight for CA that I'd like to be. Hunters in this state need to get their crap together and stand up, and they're just not doing it. I don't have high hopes for the long-term future of hunting in CA, unfortunately. There are just too many people in this state, and the vast majority of them don't hunt or care about hunting.

Texas, on the other hand, has taken a different tack on hunting. It's become an industry there, and while that has its drawbacks, it's also probably going to be responsible for saving the sport in the much longer run.

Whatever I do, it won't be real soon. A move like this will take some groundwork and planning. But I'm pretty well decided to do it. Regardless, I have a lifetime CA license, and I expect I'll get back from time to time to chase hogs and such.

And yeah, I'd like to get a chance to get together with some of my Sacramento friends before I go.

Wow. That should've been "some great plans for 2010". 2009 is leaving so fast I don't even know what year I'm in.

Sounds like you have some great plans for 2009, Phillip. I have two main outdoor goals: visit Gettysburg and shoot a longbeard. I shot a Jake last year, and I think it's time to put a bigger bird down this year.

And I admire you for having all of that planned already. I'm not even sure what I'm doing tomorrow:)

It sounds like a great year coming up for you. I don't want you to leave California, as we can use as many level-headed hunters as we can get (we tend to be a land of extremes), but what an opportunity!

You should add some kind of hunting or fishing trip with friends from Sacramento to that list of yours.
