I got an email the other day from Michelle, a representative from The Sportsman Channel. I guess somewhere she saw that I’d done my post on Pigman, The Series, and wanted me to know he’d be in Houston on April 16 at the HuntFishFeed event… you know, if I was interested in an interview or something.
And truth be told, I would certainly be glad to meet Brian, The Pigman, Quaca. Like I said, there are aspects of the show I’m not crazy about, but it’s good fun and gives pig hunting the spotlight I think it deserves. That, and the fact that the show makes it look like these guys are just having fun… and that’s what hunting is supposed to be all about!
But that’s really neither here nor there.
The point is, after that email, I decided to take a look at this Hunt.Fish.Feed. program. And what I found was really cool. First, here’s the mission statement from their website:
Sportsman Channel’s Hunt.Fish.Feed. initiative is a unique public affairs program that taps a new food source of game meat and fish donated by sportsmen to help in the fight against hunger.
The network is working with several other sponsors including the 2010 Fishapalooza, Safari Club International (SCI) Foundation, Cox Cable, Comcast, and Time Warner cable.
According to the posted event schedule, Hunt.Fish.Feed. will be in San Diego on August 4. I’m hoping I can make it down for this one to see what they’re all about, and maybe be a part of a pretty cool thing. Who knows, maybe some of the CA hunting, fishing, and foraging community can be part of it too?

Phillip, thank you for this wonderful post. Let’s talk and maybe we can meet up down there. I am very interested in getting the DIY Bowhunter guys involved and we might be able to bring a few coolers of meat down. I’ll be emailing them today.
What a great way to help give back and also show the people of California all that we hunters do to help those in need.
Cheers,
Al
