OK, not to be a downer, but let’s keep in mind what this holiday means. Our men and women are still fighting and dying on foreign soil, and their families and loved ones are fighting their own battles here at home. Let’s save a place for them in our thoughts.

It’s really easy for everyone to get caught in the grilling, and all the other fun activities that happen this weekend, and forget what this holiday is really about.
Thank you to anyone who serves, or who has served. We all owe every one of you a debt of gratitude.

I remember Jianwa, a friend of mine and a student for a semester, who died two years out of high school fighting a fire aboard ship. He was awarded citizenship posthumously. He was among the best of young men, taken too early from us and life.
I miss him.
