Yep, it’s pretty insane that we can’t do this stuff online already. I’m sure the budget crisis isn’t helping, but this really should’ve been ready long before the current crisis began.

Today I received my applications back stating they were not received in time. So even though they were mailed 5-1/2 days before the draw all my draws and my wife’s draws are not registered for 2010. The state misses out on revenue and we lost a year in points for elk, sheep. antelope, and wife for deer. This has me burning. Thank God I applied for deer with some buddies as a group and drew a X9A tag with them.
What a screwball system. Other states seem to have almost no problem just online, quick and easy.
I will try and call next week and plead our case, I’m thinking that will be a waste of time. All I wanted was to build points. Give them money and they don’t take it. It makes no sense, The USPS also has me worried. Why a packet can’t get from So Cal to Sacto in less than a day has me baffled. I think I could have darn near walked it that far in 5-1/2 days.

If either of you draw, and I’m available, I’m more than happy to jump in and help with the recovery. It’ll be fun just to get out there and experience the hunt… it’s something I’ve been dreaming of ever since I started duck hunting out there.

We got ours in on time, but Holly had to walk it down to the office. Funny, I put in for an antelope in Likely Tables and yes, that Grizzly Island antlerless elk hunt, although I think I signed up for period 2. If we both get drawn, you want to be each other’s muscle for that hunt? Takes a lotta work to haul an elk, even at the Grizz…

Kudos to Katy for providing excellent customer service, even while she’s on vacation.

And it’s always good to hear positive customer service stories. I love hearing them, since I believe that customer service has taken a back seat in this day and age.

Hmmmm. We got our big game draw packet last week, and the stickers about a month ago. I know that there was some sort of major snafu on the packets, so they really were late. But I’m wondering if you don’t have a problem with your local post office, too.

A few years ago, we went through about two months where things would literally take a month to get from Sacramento to our house 20 miles away. I bitched up a storm on a USPS survey, and somehow the problem cleared up. I had the sense that there was a psychotic postal worker perhaps sitting on mail instead of venting in the normal manner. Mail (including my job offer letter for my current job) eventually arrived; it just took forever.
