If all goes according to plan, I’m up at the Hedgepeth Ranch right about now skinning out my A-zone blacktail buck… or at least a hog. I hope to return soon and regale you all with tales, photos, and maybe even video of my exploits.

Had no idea those poor “doe-eyed deer that drink from a little brook” would chomp on a helpless little bird. I’m outraged!
Check the stomach contents of that A-zone Blacktail I hope you get.
I sure hope you get you a deer or a pig, you deserve it.
As for the video, ornithologists have caught a number of whitetail bucks raiding nests on cameras set up to study songbirds.
Herbivore, omnivore, and carnivore, like all our attempts at boxing and labeling, are more guidelines, really.

As far as my hunt this weekend… well, it’s come to my attention that blacktail bucks are a myth, not unlike sasquatch or honest politicians.

I’ve seen a picture of a blacktail, and a film of a sasquatch, but have yet to see the other!
I just viewed a video of the Hogs, Dogs, and Lace women in TX. They hunt hogs and looks like they take them alive! Have you seen it?
Bill, I haven’t seen that particular video, but I’ve been in on a few catch-and-release hog hunts. It’s pretty popular in Texas and across the South, but you don’t hear as much about it here in CA (although I’m sure it’s happening).
Usually, if a boar is caught, it’ll be castrated before being released. This keeps it from breeding, and puts it back out in the field for another hunter. “Barr” hogs tend to get huge tusks and plenty fat, because since they don’t breed, they don’t fight…all they do is eat.
