Over 40 years ago I was hunting these critters in western Oregon when a beautiful 4 pt buck come racing up behind me and stopped within 10 feet of me and looked down in the same canyon as I was looking. I zeroed him with the 35 Remington and fired. When I walked over there, there was no blood, no hair and no deer. I hesitated telling my hunting partners (my brothers) for fear they question my sanity and laugh me to scorn. I've now had over 40 years to think about it and believe it was all a figment of my imagination. At least I hope it was as that was a magnificient buck and I'd hate to have that on my conscience that I missed such a beautiful animal at 10 feet. They have got to be a myth!
