My email box has been pretty busy lately, so I thought I’d share a few things that are coming up or going down…

First of all, I’ve been following Brian “Pig Man” Quaca on Facebook.  I enjoy his show and what he’s doing, so thought this was a good way to keep up.  I’m sort of glad I did too, because he’s doing some great givewaways lately.  Right now he’s teamed up with Leupold to give away a VX-3 CDS scope, complete with custom shop dials.  There’s a little quiz, but it’s simple enough.  So sign up now!

Another cool opportunity, and a chance to play a vital role in the future of hunting, is now being offered by the International Hunter Education Association (IHEA).  Have you considered becoming a Hunter Ed instructor?  The IHEA is now offering an online training course, which means you can now get through the initial stages of becoming an instructor from the comfort of home.

New online instructor training developed by the International Hunter Education Association (IHEA) makes learning how to share our hunting heritage more effective, accessible and convenient.

The IHEA-approved online curriculum, which was developed in partnership with Remington Outdoor Foundation, features lessons designed to enhance teaching skills using animation, photos, video and narration offering expert advice.

“This online curriculum was developed by IHEA’s curriculum committee, a team whose expertise in the professional development of instructors is unmatched,” s aid Tim Lawhern, president of IHEA. “The committee’s knowledge and dedication has resulted in a curriculum that’s considered best in class. It’s an excellent tool for preparing our volunteer instructors to teach new hunters to be safe, responsible and knowledgeable.”

The new online curriculum will help volunteer instructors learn how to create an exciting classroom, use positive communications techniques, teach according to students’ various learning styles and manage the classroom so it’s a productive learning environment.

“The more than 70,000 volunteer instructors in North American are the backbone of the Hunter Education Program,” said Jim Moore, president of Remington Outdoor Foundation. “”The Foundation’s funding and technical support combined with the IHEA’s curriculum allowed us to collectively create an online program that helps instructors renew their certification and encourages prospective mentors to help make hunting even saver and more enjoyable.”

Also, wanted to post a reminder about the hog hunting seminar at the Rancho Cucamonga BassPro on October 30.  My friend Ron Gayer, and CA hog hunting veteran Durwood Hollis will be presenting, and this is a great opportunity for new hog hunters to learn about the sport, as well as a chance for experienced hunters to pick the brains of these two guys.  To pre-register and reserve your seat for this event, call (909) 605-3719, or (661) 809-1613.
