First of all, to give credit where it’s due, I got this from the Field and Stream Gun Nut blog.  I don’t spend a lot of time looking up stories like this one, but when it practically lands in my lap, I had to share it.  Why?  Because it’s pretty awesome on a couple of levels.  I was inspired by the mutual displays of honor between the young army and the old veteran.  I was also inspired, and impressed, by the fact that this guy can still ring the gongs at 84 years old.  Even with that -03, he was whacking the 300 yard target, and at 1000 yards with the modern rifle (which he’d never fired before), he put three shots within a half-foot of each other. 

Of course this is all on targets, not on game.  That’s an important distinction… these guys are military snipers, and there’s little to do with sport hunting in what they do.  But it’s impressive shooting.  Check it out:
