I have the pleasure of field testing a product sold by Elusive Wildlife Technologies, I have one of their bow/gun camera mounts, that I will be taking into the field with me this year during turkey season. It came last week and I was quite surprised by the way it was made. On first glimpse I noticed that there is a flex spring on the camera plate that allows the camera to move during recoil. This was one of my concerns before acquiring it, I was afraid that the camera may suffer recoil shock on a shotgun or rifle. This spring allows the camera to absorb the recoil somewhat. It kind of acts like a shock absorber. This should protect the small parts inside the camera from slamming inside the camera body during a shot. In my next post I will talk about how it fits onto my gun and how it fits other guns I have. It looks like a great concept for mounting a small mini dv camera to a gun or bow. Check out their web site with the link highlighted above. Along with the camera mount I also received a device called an illumitack. I will also be testing this in the field in the next couple of weeks. These are basically a blinking beacon for night tracking of game animals. I have thought of a couple of other uses I will mention when I test these also.
