I recently heard that fishing was a lot like trying to find a good woman. I didn’t put much into that statement until I really started thinking about it.
First thing you do is ask your friend and buddies where a good spot is to go fishing, much like you do for women. If your friend has a hot spot to really catch some nice ones, he won’t give up his secret spot. When you get ready to go fishing, you usually ask some friends to go along for the fun. It is always better when the guys tag along. The only time you might go alone is when you are really serious about catching some fish or women.
When you head out you have to check to make sure you have the right tackle. Without the right bait there is no chance of landing the nice ones. You must also have the right line to potentially land the perfect prize catch.
Now once you start to fish, and you don’t get any bites, you will probably move on to another location to try and locate some fish, much like women. You might find a place that is providing some nibbles, but just because your getting a few nibbles, doesn’t always mean you will catch some fish or ladies. Remember it is all in the presentation. Without the proper presentation the fish will not pay any attention to your offering. If you do get one to bite, you must not horse the fish into the boat. You must finese it and coax it to the boat or net. Once you have caught the fish, you must first determine if it is legal, then you must decide whether your going to keep it or catch and release. If you are going to catch and release you must be gentle with the fish as not to hurt it so if may be caught by another fisherman at a later time.
Once you find that perfect fish that you want to keep, you treat it with the utmost care until you get it back home. Once you get it back home, you show it to everyone you know! Usually that is when the fisherman exagerates the story, but he is still proud of his fish and is eager to tell everyone about it.
Once I started to look at all the aspects of fishing, it was then that I realized it is much like trying to find a good woman these days. Once we catch them, we don’t want to let them get away!
