Have you noticed it yet?  Are your senses heightened?  It’s in the air and I can’t wait!  I stepped outside yesterday morning and I could feel it immediately.

Each and every year when it happens for the first time I get all giddy!!  Yes we are talking about Fall!  Yesterday when I stepped outside I could feel it greet me at the door like an old long lost friend.  It stuck out it’s had and offered it for me to gladly shake.  When you grip it for that warm inviting hand shake your trigger finger will begin to itch and twitch.  Then Fall pulls you closer and gives you a great big huge to welcome you back into the fold.  When it does it is one of those “where have you been” hugs that seems to last forever.  It is warm and inviting, as if to say come on out and lets get to know one another again.

Before long you are talking with Fall trying to set up a time to meet and get out and play together.  It is truly like an old long lost friend.  You can’t wait until you actually get out to spend time with one another.  There is something about it that you can’t explain or describe, there is a certain smell and feel to it.  But just like an old long lost friend, unless your wife is his friend too, she will hate to see him at the door.

Just like in previous years, you will run off with him every weekend and play.  She is left at home for 3 months worth of weekends, unless she like to play also.  If that is the case, Fall is a welcomed friend in the home for all to enjoy.  My children have even learned to hang out with Fall, they love to spend time with him in the woods hunting and on the water shooting waterfowl.

Well I for one am glad to see Fall knocking at my door again, he is always a welcomed sight to see.  We have already set up our first get together, and I for one can’t wait to meet him on the water on Labor Day morning for the opening day of Early Goose season.  I’m sure he will be there early that morning  as always, waiting for me at the boat launch and eagerly coaxing me to hurry up and get on the water.  Fall, man am I glad to see you again, I thought you’d never get here!  Yes, it’s in the air again!
