We are now almost a week into the archery deer season here in Michigan and I haven’t heard of many people taking a deer yet. I wonder if this is due to the CWD baiting ban?
I read an article this weekend on how the ban shouldn’t deter hunters from the field this year. It goes on to explain how we should rely on old tactics that people used before baiting was allowed. Setting up mock scrapes was the topic of discussion. I personally have never used them, but I have heard of guys who have had great success with them. Here is the article that explains in detail how one guy sets up and uses mock scrapes. Hope this helps some of you guys who are having trouble seeing deer.
