It looks as if the hunters and outdoors men of New Jersey will no longer have to worry about former Commissioner of Environmental Protection and current Chief of Staff Lisa Jackson messing with their bear hunting any longer. President Elect Barack Obama has picked her to be the head of the EPA. If her track record is any indication of her intent, then we should be ready to see her put her own values ahead of what is best for the nation.
Jackson cancelled the 2006 New Jersey bear hunt that was approved in the courts. She put her own anti-hunting values ahead of what was approved by the courts. She put her self ahead of the hunters and wildlife of her state. It didn’t matter what sound science had to say, it didn’t matter what the Fish and Game Department had to say, it didn’t matter what the courts had to say. This is who is going to head up the nation’s Environmental Protection Agency! This is one of the many Obama appointees we need to keep a close eye on!
One can only wonder what actions she will take in the name of protection! We can only assume that her anti-hunting views will some how show it’s ugly head in the agendas she sets forth. With her out of the political picture in New Jersey, Gov. Corzine will now have to find a new partner to bully the outdoor playground with! Maybe, just maybe, the outdoors men of New Jersey can get a fair shake in the hunting politics in the next couple of years. One can only hope!
