I was reading in my latest copy of the NC Sportsman that a NC Archer has taken a new world record elk or at least one that will challenge the current record. I hate to rain on the parade but I have my doubts. The current record holder is Chuck Adams with an elk that scored 409 2/8.
Walter Tate of Swan Quarter North Carolina has killed a dandy bull that by all accounts will score P&Y 411. Well that’s bigger so it will be the new record right? Not so fast there is another elk that is just waiting to be panel scored that is reported to be 414. Shawn Patterson former NFL Player for the Green bay Packers is the Archer who dropped this monster.
I guess if the media outlets are going to report that Chuck’s record may have been upset by a NC Archer they ought to at least acknowledge there is another equally creditable challenger that has a higher score then Mr. Tate’s bull.
Needless to say until the scoring is done we won’t know but I would also not bet against Chuck chasing down a bigger bull either cause he seems to have a knack for killing some bruisers.
