One of the members of the club is a game warden, and he assured us that there are no panthers in NC.  One of the guts joked &quot;the next time I see it I&#039;m going to shoot it and prove you wrong!&quot;  The game warden said there was a $5,000 fine for doing so.

		<description>Good post.  A similar rumor has persisted in the western portion of my county in Virginia (along the Appalachian Trail) for many years but never as much evidence as you&#039;ve noted.  Authorities here too have said that if there is a cat out there, it&#039;s probably one that was released from captivity.</description>
