Labor Day was just that for us at the hunt club where we met early to put some food plots in. This will be a tough year for wildlife with many of the mast crops they depend on being damaged by a late frost as well as a severe drought this summer.

Not having the necessary equipment to prepare the ground we hired someone with the equipment to prepare the soil. Once the soil was disked up we followed behind spreading the seed and dragging the area to cover the seeds. We planted 5 food plots or about 4 acres. We planted a wide variety of foods including; clover, rye, oats, wheat, and turnips with the hope of seeing what does best for future plantings. We also put in some no till food plots as well but all will be for not if we don’t get some rain. Here is some of the photos I took on Monday hopefully in the near future I can get some shots of our growing food plots.
