Information is sketchy at this time but posting on message boards report that he was shot and killed yesterday while goose hunting. The following is the posting that is now on multiple hunting forums;
We just learned that Avery Pro-Staffer Josh Leger was tragically killed yesterday while hunting in his home province of Quebec. Details are sketchy at this point, but apparently someone in an automobile fired a rifle at his decoys hitting Josh in the head.
Again, I don’t have any more details, but our prayers go out to all of Josh’s friends and family. As we get more details we’ll post them here.
We’ll continue to follow any developments in this story and are thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this most difficult time.
Avery Pro Staff Bio
Josh Leger
Jocelyn (Josh) Lèger was born and raised in southern Quebec. At an early age, the Saint-Lawrence River was his favourite playground. It all started by catching frogs, leeches and catfish at age 5 with his Grandfather, then as a teen Jocelyn wanted to explore the Saint-Lawrence River by himself, and this growing passion for the outdoors made him buy a boat before a car (which is not necessarily a normal teen’s priority É). Introduced to waterfowling at age 12 by a school friend Dan Palombo and his father, with who he still hunts 28 years later.
After guiding for many outfitter’s and hunting waterfowl in 4 different provinces, Jocelyn started his own Guiding Service in 1998, operating in various regions throughout Quebec, “Club le Migrateur” is well reputed and usually fully booked 1 year ahead.
Besides guiding and his regular work, Jocelyn is an avid fishermen, winning many local derbies in recent years, also enjoying hunting dog training (his job allows him the opportunity to assist to seminars and conferences on animal behaviour, and police dog training, given by some internationally known guest-speakers), white water canoeing, clay shooting, and a lot of this is done with his wife Veronique, to who he is very thankful for sharing and understanding his waterfowling lifestyle.
Averaging 100 days of waterfowl hunting per year, making him a great resource-person with a lot of valuable field knowledge, he is very proud to be part of the Avery Pro-Staff family. Making him eager to share his knowledge, his pictures and articles, with Avery customers and fellow hunters throughout various shows, promotional events and the Avery Message Board. And finally since his job will allow him early retirement, he is planning to get involve as much as possible in the waterfowling industry, as a second career.
