The only reason to ban hunting on Sundays is to defer to religions (primarily Christian) that hold that day in special regard. If you're Jewish or Muslim, this knocks out a hunting day that's perfectly legit for hunting in the eyes of your faith. How can this ban be anything but government showing preference for a particular faith? I used to live in Virginia, where they occasionally discussed Sunday bans of this and that, and the rationale was always that it was supposed to be a "day for family."
