A new organization to organize sportsmen and women across the state of North Carolina has been launched and is being coordinated by Dick Hamilton the former director of NC Wildlife Resource Commission.
The North Carolina Camouflage Coalition is a statewide electronic network of sportsmen and women that allows hunters and anglers to monitor and impact issues that affect hunting, fishing, and conservation on a local, state, and national level. The purpose of the Camouflage Coalition is to organize hunters and anglers to act quickly when issues arise that affect hunting and fishing.
We have needed this for a long time so I’m excited to see this getting started up.
“As we organize hunters and anglers and others interested in wildlife conservation into a well-informed and strong network, we will protect the future of hunting and fishing,” says Hamilton. “We need to stand together and present a united front.”
Part of Dick’s responsibilities will include lobbying work on our behalf with state law makers which I think he’ll be well suited for with his vast years of experience. While Dick was working for the NCWRC he had a great reputation with the sportsmen of this state and many of us were upset when he was forced out last year.
I urge all those interested in wildlife in North Carolina to join the Camo Coalition so you can stay informed and help us when it comes time to hold lawmakers feet to the fire on issues important to wildlife. I’ll continue to follow this story as the coalition is built.
