As long as the children that are participating in the competition do not have any violent history, I do not understand the problem. It seems as if it would be good to teach the students how to handle firearms in a safe way. There are many rural communities in the south. That's just silly. I'd guess more students are hurt every year playing sports than have ever been injured shooting. Also the whole "students and ammo don't mix" thing is ridiculous. What, a student touches a bullet and suddenly he or she becomes a homicidal maniac? There isn't any logic at all here.
