Al, I will have to prove you wrong on the fact of venomous snakes having slit eyes, much less the idea of the first comment on this page about the snake not being a King Cobra, Ophiophagus Hannah. Cobra's in general will have pupils much like the human eye, and the King Cobra has very pronounced pupils in thier eyes. Burmese Pythons have slits in their eyes according to the amount of light being shined into them or according to the time of day and they are a non-venomous snake. Do the research, look up King Cobra's, Monocle Cobras, Spectacle Cobra's etc. And it could very well be a King Cobra or a Cobra none the less that this man saw. There is an exotic reptile show that takes place in NC every year for people to buy and sell thier exotic snakes. Exotic animals are released every year because owners cannot care for them, are afraid of them, or the animal has just escaped. Its not the first case and im sure it wont be the last. Do i think the man saw a snake? Yes. Do i think he saw a Cobra? Could be.....dont shun an idea away just because its absurd, im not saying to believe in Bigfoot and start a search party but dont comment on a thread and say their is no way it could be possible. My captive King Cobra could escape and well have one in SC!!

There is know way that we can believe this story when the picture in your article is not even a king cobra a very obvious trait is wrong about this snake the eyes are not slits anybody that knows anything ablut snakes knows that most venomus snakes including the king corba have slits rather the round pupils. make sure you have an accurate picture before you try seem like a reliable source.

It is very unlikely that this is actually a venomous snake let alone an exotic snake. You get one ignorant redneck with some inebriated tale and one ignorant "wildlife rescue agent" and you end up with this! You skip straight from any idea it is a local nonvenomous snake (many of which will show this behavior) to it being a cobra... wait not only a cobra but a king cobra? Most likely it is a Coachwhip or a Racer or a garden hose. The guy even described as coiling up like a spring in the video report. This is just STUPID!
