They blamed it on the ammo. After almost 2 weeks i finally recieved a $250 coupon BUT i have to pay full price for a new remington only firearm then hopefully i will be reimbursed for the coupon If remington was a decent company they would just refund the purchace price. I bought the rifle new. I will never buy another remington product! I had a 597, it took me 2 weeks to reach remington. They blamed it on the ammo. Initially Remington was reportedly claiming that the ammo makers were at fault for making the rounds to hot. And the ammo makers claimed it was the guns themselves that were the problem. Seems Remington is recalling both in a move I suspect is to limit their liability exposure but that is pure speculation on my part. While Remington hasn't come out and said this but in some of the reading I've done people are saying the ammo is safe for non semi autos. I don't know if that is true we'll have to see how this shakes out.
