During the NRA Convention in Charlotte this past weekend Chuck Norris held a book signing for his manner fans. With over 70,000 people attending the event the lines for the celebrity book signings were long. The Charlotte Observer had the story of one fan in particular, Ryan. that wanted to see Chuck because of how much an impact Chuck had on him. Ryan has down syndrome…. well here is an excerpt from the story.
But four years ago, Ryan came to a turning point. He started to understand that, because of Down syndrome, he might not get to do everything other people do. He became depressed. He got mad at his parents and God and himself. His family didn’t know how to help.
One day, watching TV, Ryan came across a show. It was called “Walker, Texas Ranger.”
The hero is Chuck Norris. He is a mild-mannered lawman who shuts down motorcycle gangs and runs carjackers out of town, and if the bad guys want to fight, they get a roundhouse kick to the face. He says anybody can be a hero. You just have to act like one.
Ryan watched episodes of “Walker, Texas Ranger” over and over. And one morning, he woke up and told everybody he was now Ranger Ryan.
I hope you go read the whole story and I think you’ll agree there are still some good guys left in the world.
