The August 2010 cover is not posted this is June's so look at the date before you purchase to make sure you have the right one.

I find Deer & Deer Hunting to be one of the best magazines on the market to get some great all around deer knowledge. They have a pretty wide level of articles for the beginner or the way up to the expert. The August 2010 issue hit my mailbox today so I sit here thumbing through it wondering if deer season will ever get here.
On page 38 of this issue there is a pretty good chart titled “Vital Analysis”. This is a chart to help you decide how quick you should get on a blood trail. I don’t know about you but sometimes I question how quick I should get on the trail or should I hold off. The chart takes into consideration shot placement, air temperature, Good hit vs Marginal hit, presences of coyotes etc.
This chart is going to get photocopied, shrunken & laminated, and go into my pack so I have it on my hunts. It’s not that there is any really earth shattering new info but it is very concise and a good reminder for those occasions you find yourself getting ready to blood trail a deer.
Now if you don’t subscribe you may want to swing by your local newsstand and pick one up. There is a bunch of other pretty good articles to check out too.
