I have sent in my membership for the American Crossbow Federation. I called and talked with someone. Looks like I will be the first member from NC!

Since the NCBHA is so opposed to accepting us crossbow hunters, has anyone started up a NCCBHA (NC CrossBow Hunters Assoc)? I’d be glad to join, or would be willing to help start one up.

The law is not that old, I think it dates back to the 1990’s when somebody got killed with one in an accident. I bought one last year before all of the new regulations got held up. After a lot of investigation I bought an Excalibur ExoMax used off EBay, it never came up but I had my CCW permit to buy it. I settled on the Excalibur because it is a recurve , simple to maintain and a little quieter than the compound models. If a string breaks in the field I can replace it in under two minutes. The advantages of a compound bow don’t completely translate to a crossbow, I don’t have to hold the full raw weight while hunting and the deer does not know the difference between a bolt shot at the same speed from a recurve or a compound. That said the compounds are more compact.
