Remington Hypersonic Steel

About a month ago I told you about Remington’s new waterfowl load Hypersonic Steel and its introduction was promising to change waterfowl hunting for the good. Shortly after that story Santa (the guy dressed in brown and driving a brown truck) dropped a package on my porch with Remington Hypersonic Steel for me to check out.
In anticipation of our upcoming residential goose season I grabbed some BB 3” Remington Hypersonic Steel and my trusty goose gun and headed out to the range to check this stuff out. I set up a 40 yard target and fired away and it was a pretty impressive pattern. I was using a modified choke and it gave a good spread at 40 yards. Recoil felt to be about the same as other goose loads so that is not an issue.

The 1,700-fps HyperSonic Steel™ from Remington ® Introducing the world’s fastest, hardest-hitting steel. With unprecedented velocity and the highest downrange pattern energies ever achieved, newRemington HyperSonic Steel takes lethality to new heights and lengths. To a level of terminal performance where more birds drop with fewer shots, at the farthest reaches of your abilities.
* Shortens lead by up to 11% – an 8” lead difference at 40 yards
* Puts more pellets in the head and neck for quicker kills and fewer misses
* Patented Xelerator™ Wad
* 2 Stage System
* New HOTTER primer ignites small powder charge in chamber, moving entire payload forward slightly to control pressure.

As you can see some of the great points of this ammo is the speed and how you can reduce the lead you need to hit your target. I didn’t have a moving target to test that aspect out on as well the downrange energy but in a few weeks I will. September the residential goose season comes in and I plan to fully test Remington Hypersonic Steel out on them. I’ve seen Remington Hypersonic Steel on the shelves of a number of stores so check out your local retailer to get some for the upcoming season.
