Ram Outdoorsman at the Outer Banks
The mud of Pungo and the sand of the outer banks were not a major obstacle to the Ram Outdoorsman. A hunted a couple of days near Pungo with Conman’s Guide Service and then headed on to the outer banks and Cape Hatteras to do some outdoor photography.
On Saturday’s hunt after traveling through parts of Pungo we got to some private land to hunt shortly after daybreak the skies opened up and rain began to fall. By the time the morning hunt was over the dirt roads were now covered with a slick black mud as the rain continued. The four wheel drive on the Outdoorsman worked great the truck had no trouble maneuvering on the mud. Anyone that knows that area knows how slick those back roads can get. Adding to the challenge many of them run next to a canal and the other side has ditches one slip and you could be in trouble. Afternoon hunt the roads were even slicker as the steady rain continued. The Ram Outdoorsman handled them with ease the Outdoorsman also has a much smaller turning radius then my truck so it was easy to maneuver on the back roads.
Today I went on to the Outer Banks and driving on the Cape Hatteras National Sea Shore. Sand is certainly different then the black slick mud of Pungo but the Ram Outdoorsman handled it as well. I drove the beach and pulled off the road into the sand many of times to get out and shoot photographs.
This was my first real trip with the Ram Outdoorsman and I was impressed with a number of things; one is it is a very comfortable ride, the cab is roomy and has a lot of creature comfort features that I found very useful, it is also better on gas then my current truck.
Pungo and the Outer Banks were suggestions from readers as places they would take the truck to test it out in North Carolina. It’s not too late to offer suggestions on other places in the state to take the Ram Outdoorsman. There is still time to enter the contest for the gift cards just remember to follow the instructions and email your entry to be included. Key Word to include in your email is “mud and sand”
