George Feeter was fishing and kayaking Sunday on Falls Lake when he disappeared. Emergency crews responded after witnesses reported hearing cries for help on Sunday coming from the lake. Crews found Mr. Feeter’s kayak shortly after they began searching but no sign of Mr. Feeter. An extensive search was launched both on the water and on the surrounding land. While air temperatures on Sunday were near 70′ water temperatures were much cooler in the high 30′s. In those conditions hypothermia would set in quick even a strong swimmer would have his energy zapped making it difficult for him to make shore.
Searchers recovered George Feeter’s body today from the lake. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Mr. Feeter’s family and friends as they mourn their loss.
