Ground blind at edge of cornfield

As the first of the sun broke the horizon I found myself sitting in a blind overlooking a freshly harvested cornfield. I just recently joined a hunt club in Harnett County that falls in the eastern deer zone giving me about an extra month of deer hunting with a firearm.
As I sat on the edge of the field I could see that a lot of critters were attracted to the easy pickings. The doves were piling into the field, crows were swarming in, hawks were circling and I even saw a bobcat make a quick unsuccessful pass at a dove. The wind was perfect keeping my scent out of the field but with acres and acres of corn there was plenty of options for everyone to dine.
Lots of critters kept me entertained just no deer showed up. It was an enjoyable day with friends even if none of us got to pull the trigger on a deer.
