I did make it out to the swamplands on Wednesday of last week.  Unfortunately, all we killed were mosquitoes and a big moccasin.  Hog sign was everywhere and I’d say a conservative estimate is that 4 or 5 different sounders were using different parts of the property, but with daytime temps in the 100s – they must have been sleeping by the time the sun came up over the horizon.  We did hear a pig grunting 30 minutes after daylight in some thick palmettos, but it was across an uncrossable creek so that prevented us from getting closer to investigate.  But like I said – tons of fresh sign and I had my trigger ready to bump the safety off my buckshot loaded shotgun at a moment’s notice, but no dice this trip out.  Looks like Piggly Wiggly will be selling me some domestic pork instead.
