I had the privilege of testing a Smart Shield sunscreen product over the past couple of weeks. I always like to use a new product several times before forming my opinion – so now that that has been accomplished, here’s what I thought.
I used the product pictured on left which is rated at 30 SPF.
One of the nicest feature of Smart Shield products is that the oil free lotion won’t stain clothes, sting your eyes, and rubs in quick so the oily sheen that most sunscreens leave on your skin is non-existent. I liken the sunscreen to a hand lotion that once rubbed in is gone and doesn’t leave a slippery feel on your hands like most other sunscreen products.
Also, the Smart Shield formula includes Aloe Vera which as you know is a cooling and protective agent for already sun-exposed skin. It adds Vitamins A, C, and E to the sunscreen which is absorbed into your skin without blocking the pores.
All Smart Shield products are DEET free, PABA free, and hypoallergenic. Most importantly, Smart Shield products are approved for use in marine habitats. I really wish I had this product in April when my wife and I snorkeled for a week in Cozumel, Mexico.
I used the product once while fishing out on a boat, once while working on my storage shed in the backyard, and over the July 4th weekend out on the river. My favorite feature was oil-free ingredients. My skin was smooth and didn’t even stick to the seat covers on the pontoon boat over the weekend. Just a couple minutes out of the water was long enough for the sunscreen to be absorbed and I only re-applied once on Saturday with no ill effects from the sun.
With a comparable price to other big name sunscreen companies, I will not hesitate to begin using Smart Shield products full-time. There is no reason for you not to do the same.
