Illinois Deer Hunting Dates

FIREARM DEER PERMITS (Shotgun, Muzzleloader, Handgun)

2007 Season Dates:
November 16, 17, & 18 (first season)
November 29, 30 and December 1& 2 (second season)

MUZZLELOADER – ONLY DEER PERMITS

Season Dates:
December 7, 8, & 9 (first season)
November 29, 30 and December 1& 2 (second season) (Note: this is also the second firearm season)

ARCHERY DEER PERMITS

Season Dates:
October 1 – January 17 in Cook, DuPage, Lake and portions of Kane County east of State Rt 47 . October 1 – January 17 in all other counties except that archery hunting is CLOSED November 16, 17, & 18 and November 29, 30 December 1& 2 for the two firearm deer seasons. Hunters must wear blaze orange during the Youth Season October 6 & 7 and the December 7, 8, & 9 Muzzleloader season (refer to Hunter’s Digest for specifics).

YOUTH EITHER SEX DEER HUNT (Firearm/Resident-Only)

Season Dates:
October 6 & 7, 2007

Application dates (Residents only):
August 1 – August 14
Random Draw: Sept 13 – Sept 19

Applications available July 2008

LATE WINTER FIREARM and CWD SEASON (Handgun, Shotgun, Muzzleloader/Antlerless-Only)

Season Dates:
January 18, 19, 20, 2008

License Requirements:

Non-Resident:
In addition to a valid deer hunting permit ALL SUCCESSFUL hunters are required to purchase either a 5-Day (28.75) OR Annual (50.75) Hunting License AND a Habitat Stamp (5.50).

All Hunters:
Only one annual license and habitat stamp is required to hunt for the entire 2007 deer season regardless of the number or type of permits held by a hunter. 2007 Licenses are good until
March 31, 2008.
