The ROCHESTER SPORTSMEN’S SHOW

March 6-8, 2009

The Dome Center

Monroe County Fairgrounds, Henrietta NY

The 14th annual Rochester Sportsmen’s Show will be March 6 to 8 at the Monroe County Fairgrounds, Henrietta NY, in both the Dome and newly renovated Minett halls.

The area’s best pure hunting and fishing show, is the only show that offers a giant aquarium and more booths, exhibits, seminars and action areas in two buildings.

The OSEG giant traveling aquarium will be one of the many features. There’s the return of “The OSEG Action Pond,” where lumberjacks will perform. There will be a Trout Pond stocked daily for fishing, a Casting Pool where spin, fly and bait casting experts will perform, teach and lecture, an Air-gun Range for the kids, Archery Range, special whitetail deer displays by the Northeast Big Buck Club, and more things to see and do!

This year OSEG brings back “Friends with Feathers”, a non-for profit educational organization that houses and cares for permanently injured birds of prey. They will have some of these awesome birds on display.

The Rochester Sportsmen’s Show has a great cross section of equipment, seminars, outfitters, guides and offerings at the most competitive, thus lowest cost to show goers.

The Rochester Bass Masters will again bring the National Casting Kids competition back to the show for all kids between ages 7 and 14. Prizes and certificates will be awarded for the competitions Sunday.

The nation’s top buck hunting expert Dick Scorzafava, with his insightful and practical deer hunting tips, is credited with being the top whitetail expert in the nation. He will cover calls, scents, rattling, tracking, still-hunting and stand hunting. He will be giving away hundreds of dollars of hunting equipment from dozens of manufacturers at his deer hunting seminars. Some of his sponsors are, Wildlife Research, Schrade Knives, Whitetail Institute, Ripcord Rests, Tight Spot Quivers, Hooyman Saws, Kenetrek Boots and Team Illusion.

Back by popular demand OSEG brings the “Hank Peters Lumberjack Show” to the Rochester Sportsmen’s Show. With log rolling, hatchet throwing, saw carving and saw competition they are sure to keep the crowd happy.

Navhda, North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association, will present demonstrations of the dogs in action, using basic and advanced training techniques.

Jason Franz will demonstrate fly-fishing techniques with individual hands-on lessons and casting techniques at the casting pool. He will add yards to the casts of beginners, and feet to the presentations of experts.

The “Sportfishing Simulator” will be on hand for “free” interactive battles as Salmon, Smallmouth and Lakers are landed.

There will be seminars by local bass experts Lou Rissotti, Matt Martin and TJ Valle with their special knowledge of the local waters and how to fish them. Between them they have traded wins at the Rochester Bass Classic many times, sharing top spots on the tournaments’ records.

Old tackle buffs will enjoy Kyle Kuba’s collection of old fishing tackle and local fishing memorabilia again this year. Kyle’s assortment of past local and national favorite lures, rods and reels will fascinate even the non-collector.

NY’s, and possibly the world’s largest, broadhead collection will thrill archers and be of high interest to all who view this great display by Ed Snyder.

The country’s fastest growing measuring group, the Northeast Big Buck Club, will be measuring deer racks during the entire show. Hunters are encouraged to be a part of this great display by bringing their racks to be measured and displayed.

The show offers showgoers easy access with its location at the Dome Center in Henrietta, with its free unlimited parking, and its easy access from interstate 90. Take exit 46, then take exit 12 off interstate 390.
