The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ Wildlife & Freshwater Fisheries Division (WFF) has closed its public boat ramp at Mud Creek on Lake Guntersville in Jackson County effective immediately. The closure is necessary until repairs to the ramp can make it safe to load and unload boats. Heavy use of this boat ramp has caused its surface to become slick resulting in an unsafe condition. The ramp will be re-opened once the problem has been corrected.

“I feel badly that we need to close this ramp during the peak of recreational use, but we do want the public to be safe,” stated Damon Abernethy, the Fisheries Development Coordinator. “Boaters can use WFF ramps at Comer Bridge off Alabama 35, Stevenson Park on Crow Creek and Stevenson Boat Ramp, which are both off Alabama 117. Specific directions to all these facilities are on our Web site, www.outdooralabama.com. Also, TVA has a boat ramp near the Bellefonte facility.”
